Old question obviously, but since this is the new generation of consoles without sega making a console entry (Dreamcast was still considered the same gen as PS2, Xbox and GC)
Do you think that them kinda loosing out, and calling it a day with consoles to make games is a good thing?
Or do you think they are secretly planning on releasing a new type of console and just using the new multi-formats to help make money, and promote their software?
Some Sega Facts:
So who do we owe are gratitude for innovation, and brilliance too?
Microsoft, Nintendo, Sony or Sega?
To be honest the only companies that have made a difference to the way we play games, are the two that were head to head from the beginning, Nintendo & Sega....
Here is a question,
Sega make brilliant Arcade machines, it is what they do best!
Namco are also known for their arcade machines...
Nintendo however? not really, but they do make some of the best multiplayer games (Mario Kart, FZero etc...)
So, what do you get... when these three companies get together to make an arcade board?
THE BEST Arcade board of its time, Sega and Nintendo teamed up to make FZero GX on the GameCube and FZero AX in the arcade, which allowed you to plug in your GC Memory card, and upload your custom rides, and race your friends, or complete strangers...
The "Triforce" as it was known, was actually based on GameCube hardware, and was used for many arcade games.
Could we possibly see, a Sonic Vs. Mario game though?

Some Sega Facts:
- Sega got their name from the Japanese company "Service Games", which was registered name of the company back in 1952. Initially, Sega provided coin-op machines to U.S. military units stationed in Japan
- The MegaCD was the first officially lauched CD Expansion drive for a console.
- Sega's first real breakthrough was a submarine simulator called "Periscope which was launched somewhere in1966"
- Sega were the first to use "Laser Disc", which was used to power up "Sega Astron Belt", and the first 3D video game "SubRoc-3D", back in 1983 (- Another proof that 3D Graphics isn't anything new in games -)
- Sega Aimed the "Mega Drive" at an older audience to try to over do their main competitor at the time, Nintendo with the SNES (-hmmm... sound familiar to latest gens right?-)
- In December 1994, Sega of America, in a joint venture with Time Warner and TCI, launched the Sega Channel, a nationwide subscription-based cable network that provided video games to Sega Genesis owners via their cable box. The Sega Channel was praised by the cable industry as the "coolest new service."
- In 1995, Sega of America launched the Sega Saturn video game system, bringing arcade-quality gaming to the home. Saturn games earned more coveted "Five Star" product review ratings from a popular industry video game magazine than any other platform
- Sonic is the only non-Disney character featured at Disney World today
- The year 2000 brought other industry firsts including ChuChu Rocket, the first-ever online console video game, Seaman, the first voice recognition videogame in the U.S., Sega Sports NFL 2K1 the first online console sports title, and Phantasy Star Online, the first ever online console RPG.
