Sonic the hedgehog kicks butt! My fave game has to be either Sonic The Hedgehog 3 plugged into Sonic & Knuckles or Sonic CD.

Sonic the hedgehog... dont get the duke started, last thing I remembered is that he couldn't stay off the games. He loved sega and thought they would win the console wars, I did too seems like we were wrong.
But my fave sonic game has to be Sonic 3D for the MD, that game squeezed every last BIT from the cpu.

Sorry I found this topic a little late but... If you play Sonic 3 with Sonic and Knuckles plugged in its one long game as you play through the Sonic 3 levels and then the Sonic and knuckles levels all in a row. If you play as Sonic Tails or Knuckles you take slightly different routes through the game as they can reach different areas and the game changes depending on what emeralds you have at certain points in the game. If you want stuff to unlock simply play though the game with each character (lol I should have not have said simply!) and see if you can get all the emeralds and get up all the different endings and bosses. There is more to the story line than you may have first thought! Its the best game I ever played on the Megadrive

Its called: Nights into dreams. he he he ;D Yeah that maybe, but I have found the same game Nights Into Dreams, with the X-Mas Nights disc and the 3D control pad all for only £9.99 and that was in Staines! HA HA HAAA! ;D
anyway back on topic. the way to unlock all the other games on Sonic Mega Collection is to basically start up each game 50+ times that will unlock all the other titles. Like Flicky, Ristar, and basically the Sonic/2/3 plugged into S&K. If you don't wanna count then once you have loaded a game more then it is needed you will notice it doesn't record to log before starting the game. ;D

What do you mean about Sonic / 2 & 3 Plugged into Sonic & Knuckles How can you do that? I know that I posted in the actual Nights thread, but what the hell is Nights I am still waiting for a reveiw of it! I forgot to ask. what about this Sonic CD I heard about in the movies section of the disc? I know it was on the Mega CD, but why wasn't it included on the disc?

You mean you don't know about Sega's "Plug-Through" Game cartridge? Sonic & Knuckles was exactly that: the original Sonic, Sonic 2 and Sonic 3 Game carts (or any MegaDrive cart for that matter) can plug into the top of this cart. Alone this cart is Sonic & Knuckles a one player game with some levels that were missing from Sonic 3, continuing the story. But the "Lock-On" feature is where the game REALLY shined. When you plug Sonic 2 into this game cart you can play the whole of Sonic The Hedgehog 2 (one of the biggest sonic games on MegaDrive!) as Knuckles. Sonic 3 plugged into the top, and you can play all the levels on Sonic 3, then continues onto S&K levels, with added features (as Nuke said) But the ability of collecting Emeralds to become super sonic becomes more challanging, as now when you start the S&K levels you have to collect the Super Emeralds allowing you to become Hyper Sonic (a lot faster and crazier then Super Sonic - and only featured on this game!) This game also allowed you to play as Knuckles in Sonic 3 (sonic team wanted to let you play as Knuckles anyway but they had to cut him out due to space problems) And again Knuckles can become Super Knuckles, and Hyper Knuckles. By collecting all the emeralds. Sonic 3 "locked-on" with S&K also saw the first ever actual (no cheats needed) arrival of Super Tails! (We waited so long!) But that is only if you collect all the emeralds and super emeralds. Now when you plug sonic into the game it just gives you the chance to play through millions of special stages. enter a random code (after pressing A,B & C on the no way screen) and you will most likley get a special stage... you can play as either sonic or knuckles. This also happened on a lot of other MD titles. plug any game into the top, press a,b, and c together to get a special stage. It will always be the same one! - also the code that it gives you is compatible with sonic plugged in so you can play that stage by entering the code. Not all other Game Carts give you a level (most EA games give the same level but with different colours) and if it doesn't the cart ignores it and plays S&K normally. - The gamecube version just has a ROM file on the disc that automaticly has S3 & S&K joined together - although it is illegal, you can also find the same type of ROM on the internet. - Also about NiGHTS I am still working on it, in fact I am making a Mini Site about the game!

I know that Duke would tell you to F-Off if you think that Sonic CD was crap. But then again you never played it. Sonic CD was probably one of the only reasons to actually OWN a Mega CD, next to other great titles Like Dune and Thunderhawk. As this game featured advanced animation sequences, and the introduction of Amie Rose. The game was massive with 72 Levels with CD audio. We over here in the UK got the best audio for the game (the US got crap ones. The opening and ending on SMC on the GC was from the american tracks. the UK tracks are soo much better. I don't know why it wasn't included on the GC game, I am sure it wasn't a space issue. Even if it was. I would love to have it on its own disc anyway.

Yeah but the GC disc holds 1 gig of data, surely that would be enough...

Space isn't really the issue... the problem really lies in the emulation of the console.
The GC has to emulate the Megadrive when playing the original titles as that is all that is happening, Sega have written a Official Emulator for the GC to allow it to play MD games. and it does it pretty well bearning in mind the Mega Drive (although some people don't realise) is actually one of the hardest consoles to emulate because of the processor and other chips that it uses.
Now it is said that the system that emulates the console has to be at least 4x more powerful to make a decent emulation, now of course as it is a console and a legit emulator it is needed that it be a 100% emulation which takes up recources like anything.
Now the Mega CD is a add-on console adding another CPU and chips to the process.. which is hard work for the GC (even some PC's have trouble!)
So it isn't a matter of space as Sonic CD can take between 100-650MB of space. on a 1 gig disc, you have enough space for it, but in the end it is all about processor capabilities
Sorry for the long winded explination, but I needed to get it out.
