Introduction:
The fudge role playing game, rules is very easy to understand and easy to play, which is why it is very
popular for forum or web based role playing game.
The game can start, by simply naming your character, that is all you need to do, there is no advanced
character creation needed in advance, everything can be done "on-the-fly".
The Character Sheet:
The character sheet in Fudge, isn't really too important, you don't have to worry about carrying status effects,
or saving throws, it is simply a way to know which class your characters moves and actions are allocated.
The levek system for Fudge is as follows:
- Superb
- Great
- Good
- Fair
- Mediocre
- Poor
- Terrible
Your Game / Dungeon Master (G/DM), will tell you at what level you can create your character,
for example, the G/DM may ask you to create a character at level Fair:
This will mean, you can assign skiils or actions to the following:
- 1 Action at level Fair (this would be your most powerful action)
- 2 Actions at Level Mediocre
- 3 Actions at Level Poor
- 4+ at level Terrible (This is your worse actions, however you can have as many as you like, within reason)
You get 2x Fields to play around with, Attributes and Skills.
Your Attributes list, is your in battle actions, Example: "Strength @ Level Mediocre"
Your Skills list, is your out of battle / role playing actions, Example: "Weapons Lore @ Level Poor"
By using this system will help you make a character the way you want to make it, you don't have to follow any presets
there is no classes, or races, that is purely for role playing.
How To Play:
Fudge games are played using 4 special Fudge 6 sided dice.
Each Die has:
- 2x - (Minus) spaces
- 2x + (Plus) spaces
- 2x = (Equals or Blank) spaces
However if you don't have a fudge die, a normal 6 sided die can
be used instead:
- 1+2 = - (Minus)
- 3+4 = + (Plus)
- 5-6 = = (Equals or Blank)
You roll 4 of the dice, and work out how many Pluses, and Minuses there are, equals or blanks are ignored.
You then use the "character sheet" to work out if the action has worked or not.
To do this, you compare the results rolled with the action being used, if the result rolled is equal or greater then the
level rolled, then the action has worked, else it has failed, the G/DM will write the results down, in each of the turns.
The rule is, for every + you roll, you go up one level in the list (Fair becomes Good)
for every - you roll, you go down one level in the list (Fair becomes Poor)
for every = (or blank) you roll, it is a neutral attack, you stay where you are.
Example Turn:
Player A: "I will banish this fool to the firey depths of hell" ~ (Intelligence used @ level Poor)
Player B: "Haha! I will strike you down with my steel you fiend!" ~ (Strength used @ level Fair)
Game Master: "You cast your spell banish, the Goblin shakes it off, and starts laughing in your face, unknown to this foul creature
that there is a solid steel blade heading straight for his head ~ Crack ~ it shatters his skull leaving the Goblin dead on the ground
with his foul green blood oozing all over the cobblestone floor"
~ Results ~
Player A: Intelligence @ Poor = Uber Terrible (Dice roll: [-] [-] [=] [-] = -3)
Player A: Strength @ Poor = Good (Dice roll: [+] [+] [=] [-] = +1)
