I am going to reply to a dead thread, after my "fan-boy" comment
a "Dead" pixel is very uncommon indeed, especially these days when LCD TV's are released, very rarely that you get a dead pixel, I have a 26" TV that has 1 dead pixel, do I notice it, NO! not unless I am right next to it and know where to see it.
The PSP is a great handheld, I have the 3001 model, which has no flaws of the original (the disc drive is a manual eject, and the square button doesn't interferre at all. I will admit my previous posts where "Fan-Boy"but as I got older I released that the PSP is a great console and the DS (and even 3DS) can also exist at the same time!

I never really thought that much about hardware specifications, it's always been about the games for me on a particular system and if they suit my tastes. It just so happens Sony's systems always have the sort of games I love. The PSP has some excellent titles and has given me a lot of entertainment, but I haven't used it recently. It's cool to see you gave it a chance, it's a nice bit of kit, I always loved how I could play PSone classics on it.

Yeah, in fact that is one of the reasons I got a PSP in the first place, as I heard FFVII was playable on it, and after getting a PS3, I found out that I could copy my original save game over to my PSP too, which is fantastic.
I would like to see how well the PS Vita does, so far I haven't really found any good blurb about it, as all I found is the hardware and what it can do, well I learnt my lesson from buying a console on launch (Wii, DS and 3DS) and although they were great, they really only started to come alive a year later, all the good games on the 3DS have only recently started to come out, and I think that having a 3DS which at the time was just a fancy DS console at first was a bit of waste of money, and yes I will admit I would have rather waited for the Red 3DS to come out.
But... My PSP's UMD drive is knackered! so I have some UMD's that I don't have any use for them, so if any one wants them, I be glad to hand them out (close friends only really - as I don't wanna have to exchange addresses, and postal fee's)
Final Fantasy Dissidia Final Fantasy Tactics (Pretty much a re-make of the original PS version GTA Liberty City Stories Phantasy Star Portable

It's true, the best games take a fair while to come out on any system, I've never bought a console on release so far, although I was tempted by the PS Vita. I may pick it up in the next few months. If I do, I'll let you know what I think. Think I'll trade my PSP in soon one way or another as it doesn't get any use now.

Well Vita supports "downloaded" PSP titles, but as I know my PSP is worth £0 with no working UMD, and of course as I kept it all legal, it has the official firmware, no one will want it. lol
I am interested in the Vita, but I want to see what happens first, as I know I would probably want to get the 3G version (which will cost like a BOMB!) which will mean I have to get some sort of mobile internet plan, (as of yet only Vodafone have signed up - and Vodafone 3G isn't all that!)
and of course some rocking games to boot, I have heard romours that Squenix have thought about porting FFXI over to the handheld! Imagine that, for the first time ever a proper MMORPG on a handheld!
I just be a bit concerened with the way the game will run, as FFXI takes up between 8-10 GBytes on a PC, which means that the game will have to have either a HUGE re-writable RAM section, or they will have to use some sort of hard core data-compression, to make it use less space.
I know these new cards for the Vita (along with the DS / 3DS cards) can store GB's of data anyway (3DS Cards can store upto 16GBytes), but thats ROM, which is cheaper to manufacture, having a 16GByte, ~Protected~ FLASH at high-speeds isn't cheap at all.
Then the other problem is, that no matter what version of FFXI you buy, even if you have the latest "Ultimate Collection ~ Abyssea Edition" which only came out last year, I can tell you know, that is out of date, as just installing that edition on my PC, still caused a 8 hour update (on a 100Meg connection!!!)
So back to the topic, I would probably most deffo get FFXI for a Vita if thats made possible, however I rather see some really cool new games. As I have had my 3DS for almost a year now, and I only have 3 games for it (Sims 3, Dead Or Alive and Mario Kart 7) I am not going to rush out for the Vita any time soon, I still got loads of games to play on PC, PS3 and even PSP

A 3G model makes a lot of sense if you don't have a smart phone, but I think I'll go for the wifi only version. I think I may get one about a month from now. I haven't heard the FFXI on Vita rumour. That would be very interesting, although hopefully there won't be too many massive updates! There are quite a few games I'm interesting in playing on Vita already. I know I'll enjoy them a lot but I'm looking forward to seeing a few more turn based games as well, as they worked so well on the PSP. Here are some of the games I plan on playing: Wipeout 2048Super Stardust DeltaUncharted: Golden Abyss

I love my Vita, I have played it more then my 3DS, and thanks to the PS+ supporting Vita now, means that I am getting more out of my Vita, I think Mortal Kombat on the Vita is fantastic, the visuals are great, and it plays the same as on the PS3, I just wished there was "Cross-Play" support, Sony can really win with this one, if they advertised it a little better...
I was thinking if Sony gave every PS3 and PS Vita 30-60 days free PlayStation + with everyone sold, it might encourage people to buy their consoles, not only buy the consoles, but also keep the subscription of PS+
It may sound more that I love PS+ more then the consoles, which tbh is true! I will continue my PS+ subscription because it is so worth it.
For the record, I have got the WiFi only model, and I bought it on an impulse buy, and I have never regretted it since! The Vita is a fantastic console, my 3DS hasn't had a charge for 2 months, yet my Vita has been on charge pretty much every day (might have to invest in a docking station)

I was actually waiting for PS+ to hit the Vita before I signed up for it, and I have to agree, it is very good. Managed to grab three months free as a trial and then got another 12 months for £30 so I am very happy with the value.
I've been playing a lot of Mortal Kombat on it, it's a lot of fun, think I'll switch to another game now, but not sure which, there are so many to choose from! Not that I'm complaining. Will have to try either Gravity Rush or Jet Set Radio soon as everyone keeps saying they are excellent titles.

Gravity rush seems like it will be right down your alley tbh mate was a right old laugh when I played it, kinda sucked on the first main boss, but thats because I was lazy and didn't find a "pattern" will go back to it soon.

Yes, it is a lot of fun, I've put a few hours into it now. I've had a few boss fights, just came across one that is quite difficult as the boss regenerated health now and again. But managed it on the second attempt, so not too bad. Every single boss I've pretty much just used gravity kicks from high in the air to take out, just aim for the weak points and you should be alright.

So yeah I got my Vita a while back, and I am still waiting for some brilliant content, don't get me wrong I think that the console is fantastic, its just there doesn't seem to be any games for it at the moment, Sony think a great title here and there or once every 6 months is enough to keep the console alive.
It really isn't I want more games to chose from, so far I think I have played most if not all the main stream games for the console and I am getting bored really quickly with my system, no suprises when you see the amount of PS Vita consoles are pre-owened in my local Game and HMV stores,
I want to know when are we going to get a proper Final Fantasy game for PS Vita (and don't say X and X-2 HD, they are just upscales of original games) When are we getting GT for PS Vita, and a possible GTA? the console has proven it has the power to do some great stuff, just the devs don't seem to be bothered to make anything.
I am not dissing what they have out at the moment, just saying that we need more games, and I am not settling for the amount of "Indie" games as the content, yeah there are some great ones of them too, but I am not after that!

I don't think we'll have ever get a brand new Final Fantasy just for the Vita, they won't even release them just on PlayStation any more. But you will be able to play Final Fantasy 15 via remote play along with 90% of all the other PS4 games, great when someone else wants to watch the TV but you want to carry on playing. Indie games may not be your thing but they have saved the Vita from being killed off completely, they are making up the majority of its releases and there are some great ones. The only triple A exclusive titles that spring to mind that are coming our way are Killzone Mercenary and Tearaway. Not much choice there, it's true. We'll have to see if the PS4 coming along helps to reignite publishers' interest in our beloved handheld.

But you will be able to play Final Fantasy 15 via remote play along with 90% of all the other PS4 games, great when someone else wants to watch the TV but you want to carry on playing. Now I am not really expecting a full on exclusive FF game, maybe like what they done with the DS, FFXII and of course the tactics games, would be nice to have something like that going on. As for the two titles you mentioned, yeah, I suppose it is great that these are coming to Vita, but again my point, 2 GREAT games scheduled for release, then what? we have to wait a few more months down the line until we get some more games. Now the remote play is a great idea, I am not planning on buying a PS4, I bought a PS3 years ago, and I think it is somewhere underneath all that dust. So I am not really going to be jumping into next gen, quite yet, I love playing my handheld's because it is always "there", and if the Remote play is anything like the Wii U's "Off TV Play" which pretty much 98% of its games support, you will have to be within a meter or two from the console, else you will experience lag (and that is based on a WiFi 802.11n system!) I just want some more content for the Vita, how long has it been out? Feb 2012? over a year ago, yet the content is dwindling, and the only reason I am bringing this up, is I was out and about thinking I want to play a new game, went out to the stores, and saw the SAME! line up of PS Vita games. Ok, so according to IGN these are the upcoming titles for the Vita this year: As you mentioned: Killzone: Mercenary September 2013 Teraway November 2013 Warrior's Lair TBA 2013 Oddworld: Munch's Oddysee HD TBA 2013 (another HD remake) Zone of the Enders HD Collection TBA 2013 (again a HD remake) Final Fantasy X HD TBA 2013 (oh look!) Phantasy Star Online 2 TBA 2013 *delayed* Dungeon Defenders *Cancelled* Dead Nation TBA 2013 (I swear I have played this before.. oh wait I have!) Odd World New 'n 'Tasty Q4 2013 (woah! holy crap! A new game?) ... The list goes on, there are a lot of games Planned for the Vita, and according to the source site, the hype of all these games are little or none. There are a lot of games on the list, but how many of them are going to be released? They need to bring their flagship titles over sooner to help boost the games, that is what people want! Real them in with the series that people love about the console, then introduce new players to other games. Plus, I am not buying FFX HD on PS Vita, I am going to get it on PS3, why, because it comes with both FFX & X-2, where the Vita only comes with X, or X-2 seperatly, which is a joke! and before anyone says "It is because of limitations with the game card media" that is a load of todswhallop. The Vita's game card is based on the very popular SD Format, which means in theory it could have around 32GBytes + of storage, this is proven by the fact the much smaller Vita "Memory Card" can have a capacity of 16GB's which by the way is more then enough to store 2 HD quality *Remade* games. The PS2 version of FFX was on a single layered DVD (4.2GBytes) and X-2 was also on the same disc, which means both together would take up 8GBytes, leaving upto 8 more Gbytes for HD upscale content, and because new technology, you will find that they could do this with less space now anyway! And even if it is the case that the game cards are too small, just pack 2 game cards in the same case! You know like the old multi-disc games did.

Wow, Dave has spoken!
Although I do see your point dude, the thing you have to remember is that the console as you stated, is only just over a year old, and bearing in mind the amount of quality games the console has for it already, shows that Sony are taking this console seriously, I would rather have a brilliant title once every 6 months then just have a load of spin off's and old games.
I do agree that Indie games are keeping the console alive for the time being, but then I will say, look at what decent games the Vita has compared to the 3DS.
In my opinion, although I am playing my 3DS a lot at the moment, all because of Animal Crossing, I can tell you when the time comes I will be moving over to my PS Vita again, apart from the Mario games, and Animal Crossing, I don't think the 3DS really has anything going for it, and that is older then the Vita, admittedly Nintendo have announced more games now, but again a lot of them are just rehashed games and the like.
The Vita is still young, and will take a while before some games do come out for it, I suppose it is a price to pay for early adoption on a console.

I believe Odd World New 'n 'Tasty is essentially just a HD remake of the original game, but they've made it a more fluid experience, so that you don't jump from screen to screen, the camera follows you. So alas, not a new game. Having said that, I still want to play it. You're right of course, Sony should be making much more effort to get bigger titles onto the handheld if they want it to really succeed. And I agree with you about FFX. Looking at it now it would seem that FFX on the Vita is more expensive than both games bundled together on the PS3, that's insane! www.shopto.net/search/?platform=&newsearch=Final+Fantasy+X+HDVery disappointing to see Square treating Vita customers this way, I was really hoping for a cross buy promotion so I could have it on both. To be honest I think Square have the lost the plot in recent years when it comes to the business side of things, they make some very odd decisions.
