Recreating the popular thread that was The Sims.
ok, so Nightlife is soon to come out, are any of you guys that can play it, going to buy this new expansion pack?
how many Expansion Packs do you think they will do before they either.
1. Kill of the Sims altogether 2. Release the Sims 3

How can you say they going to kill the sims each expansion pack gets better and better. I be buying nightlife as I haer it going to be totally amazing and for the first time sims will be able to have cars.
Well are still working on custom skins.

I really doubt the expansions would kill the game unless they were terrible.
The original had so many and since it was a single player game, they didn't need to worry about balance of play (a major issue for multiplayer games). The expansions only made the game more popular as it kept the Simms brand on shelves from the time it was created to... well its still there!
I think it will be a while until the Simms 3 as they still need to milk Simms 2 for all its worth first (EA Style!).

I don't think that she meant about the expansion packs killing off the sims 2, she meant about how many expansion packs do you think they will release until they decide that they have milked every penny out of it
me, I think that Maxis will have to pull of a LOT to be able to beat the Sims 2, I mean how can you beat real genetics... AI like anything, and top notch 3D graphics... there is only so much you can do, the only thing better than the Sims 2 will be what we are doing, Real life!
have any of you played Uni (apart from PC and Tabi) and saw that your sims can now talk to other sims via e-mail and instant messaging? how realistic do they want it?

Don't get me started on the sims 2, I had to buy a whole new PC just so she could actually play the game without bothering me all the time. offtopic: Duke do you need a hand re-animating the emoticons? or are you just too lazy.

Dave Said:
not that mate, just haven't got round to do it.
back on topic, Skins for the Sims 2, is easier then the original sims I have to say, I do actually prefer making them for the Sims 2.

I have tried, but I can't seem to get the nack of it, which software do you use to make the skins? as in which art package.

I just use MS Paint to be honest, I find that is adequate enough for my textures at the moment, once I got to grips with Photoshop a little more, maybe then I will start making some using that.

MS Paint? that sucks though, maybe you should learn some Photoshop, I am looking forward to seeing what else you make. also can we expect the website soon? sorry to be pushy, just wondering.

too busy at the moment, VOTD is taking most of my attention at the moment, and I do need to sort out a lot of other things too... hopefully the site will be up before the month is out, but I can't really fixate anything at the moment. your just going to have to wait for now. I will however try to at least upload the custom skins then link to them from this forum within the next week or so, but again no promises.

I have night life, and while I was installing nightlife I was reading the manual that came with it (like most people do) and at the back I saw Maxis' plans for the next expansion pack... I think they have already decided what packs they are working on, on the original Sims it seemed like they just sprung them up without a thought, and they would make it work, now it seems they know that the game is ready for the expansions.
ok, so here is what it says exact word for word, minus any typos:
New PC expansion pack is coming your way! THE SIMS ARE OPEN FOR BUSINESS
for the first time ever your sims can open up their own businesses! create shops, restaurants, nightclubs, home businesses and more. Hire friendly workiers and fire slackers as you strive to keep up with demand.
Coming Early 2006 To Your PC!"
