Hmmmm, getting myself in a muddle here:
You Beta test activation key should be made up like this: XXXX-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX
that is the one you have to enter into the Square-Enix Account Management site, then under that you should get your PSN redeem code:
XXXX-XXXX-XXXX
Once you have activated your beta account, and then downloaded the client, you then login via the PS3 client with your Square-Enix account gubbings and then it will ask you if you would like to link the account (similar to what XBL does with FFXI)
Once you have done that you are ready to rock and roll, at least that is how it worked for me, hope that clears it up?
Btw, I got a brand new key that I had to register for PS3 access, it wouldn't accept the same PC key it gave me way back when, but I still can link it with my account giving me access to PC content, basically its not like FFXI, if you want to play your PC char on PS3 you have to buy the game again, and register a new product key to your account to do so, and you won't be able to give out any new registration keys to friends (like I did on 11)

You didn't have too, you're just getting back into properly moderating the forum,
anyway back on topic.... I have finally decided, and I know your not going to like it, I plan on getting this game in the new year (like late Jan or early Feb), but that's the best estimate I can give you.

She be on before me most likley, Really not sure if at all I can come over anytime soon, just ran the benchmark on my PC and I scored 506! I assume that is bad, as with medium to low settings, I was getting what seemed like a max frame rate of something like 3fps.
Really can't afford a new PC

You could play it on PS3. You can get a brand new PS3 for less than £200.

You could play it on PS3. You can get a brand new PS3 for less than £200. It sounds simple, but that would mean buying another TV, which for a decent HD one will cost around £200-300? so total cost will be around £500ish (about the same price as a standard gaming PC that could handle it) and the reason why is when me and Cass get our own place (hopefully) we will have 1 PS3 + 1 TV to go with already, (Hers pretty much - she said she ain't having my hunk a-junk TV in our future home!)

Ah, I see, sounds like you'd be better off saving the money up then, worth having some put by for when you move into a new place.

Getting your first place together is one of the hardest most stressful things you ever have to do trust me. But I have a little tale for you.........
Once upon a time me and Vik lived with my parents. We were there for five years the thing that helped us get enough money together to save a deposit to get a mortgage for the house we have now was FFXI! Given the house and rent prices down south are much greater (extortionate in my humble opinion) than they are up here in the grim carcass of the industrial revolution. But how it worked out was that we both worked full time and put 80-90% of our wages into savings left a bit every month to pay my rents keep, pay the FFXI subs and treat our self's to a pizza once in a while. But that game kept us occupied staying in saving was not a chour we always had something to do! somewhere to escape to from the drudgery of working and working and working and eventually we had enough money to start looking at houses. We always joke that this (our home) was the house that FFXI built. And to this day I have a large promo poster for the game framed in the bathroom so every time I sit on the loo and look at it it reminds me how we got where we are.
I know peoples circumstances are different but at that time me and vik saved a bit on the side to get her a lap top etc to play the game and that laptop can run XIV and has more than payed for itself over the years. And sometimes you have to speculate to accumulate. When finding somewhere to live you have to play the long game its chess not draught's if you get me?
Anyways i'm not saying you do the same as us and its not some attempted to get you to play XIV it's just your comments reminded me of when we were in that same situation its hard work and will test ya but good luck to you both just thought id share our little tale with you.

Hey Grim, completely know what you mean! The saving of money isn't the problem, luckily for us we have both saved up pretty much every penny we have since we started working. I know Cass has her education (which was sponsored by her father!) Its just getting all the other crap out of the way, We could do a time share on the PS3! but to be honest it all depends on how well we do with a place.
For example we haven't officially decided where in the UK we are going to look, I know Cass loves Surrey, but no offense! JESUS CHRIST the prices! I know how FFXI / XIV could help save money, especially if you play it a lot and enjoy it, I totally get that and we will probably do that to help save the pennies.
I be a made man though once Cass starts rolling in the big bucks! (lol he assumes experimental physicist's do make a large sum?)
To be honest though, we will probably both start FFXIV together one way or another, even if I do have to play it on my cruddy TV.

Also assuming that I get my Ph.D and what do you mean about surrey being expensive! it isn't that bad, ok it is, but yeah either way the plan is when we do migrate over to FFXIV we will together.
